Jumping jacks
The warm-up everyone knows, and one of the easiest exercises for a camera to count.
The movement
Loading the coach
How to do it
- Feet together, arms along your body.
- Jump your feet apart while raising your arms above your head.
- Jump back to the starting position.
The two mistakes that cost you reps
- Arms stopping at shoulder height instead of going overhead.
- Feet barely leaving the floor as the pace picks up.
How Orusta counts it
A rep counts on the full open-and-close cycle: arms overhead, then back down with feet together.
Easier, harder
Easier
Step one foot out at a time instead of jumping, arms still going overhead.
Harder
Speed it up, or add a squat between two reps.
What a good set looks like
50 to 100 reps in a row. It is a warm-up, not a set to fail on.
