Leg Pull

A plank where one leg lifts: the abs hold the line while the balance keeps shifting.

The movement

Loading the coach

How to do it

  1. Front plank on your hands, body in one straight line.
  2. Lift one leg without letting the hips rotate.
  3. Put it back down and swap, keeping the line the whole time.

The two mistakes that cost you reps

  • Hips opening as the leg lifts, which is what the exercise is meant to prevent.
  • Holding your breath, which shortens the set more than the abs do.

How Orusta counts it

A rep counts on each leg lift returning to the plank position.

Easier, harder

Easier

On the forearms, or with a smaller lift.

Harder

Pause three seconds with the leg raised.

What a good set looks like

10 to 16 reps in total, alternating legs.
