Saw

Seated, legs apart, the torso rotates then reaches: the one exercise here that works rotation.

The movement

Loading the coach

How to do it

  1. Seated, legs apart, arms out to the sides at shoulder height.
  2. Rotate the torso, then reach one hand past the opposite foot.
  3. Unroll to come back to seated, and swap sides.

The two mistakes that cost you reps

  • Letting the opposite buttock lift, which turns rotation into a lean.
  • Rounding from the shoulders instead of rotating from the torso.

How Orusta counts it

A rep counts on each side, from the rotation to the return to seated.

Easier, harder

Easier

Sit on a cushion, or bend the knees slightly.

Harder

Pause at full stretch and breathe out completely.

What a good set looks like

8 to 12 reps per side. Range matters more than pace.
